The famous Italian brand Lotto acknowledges that humanity is now standing at a crossroads.The world is in the midst of a crisis. The world needs rehabilitation. In order to set forth its part in the initiative of reducing and or eliminating wasted paper packaging they began redesigning and reengineering the footwear packaging and making certain that the packaging was rightsized for the shoe size.
Following the principle of “reduction is the first rule of sustainability”, shoe boxes were redesigned and reengineered in order to allow for distribution center for the selection, packing and sorting equipment. Specific sustainable paper materials were selected in order to utilize the
least amount of paper possible while preserving product integrity. A new box closure system was designed in order to avoid easy opening during transportation. All packaging continues to use soy-based inks and absolutely no harmful adhesives. As a result, this winning move towards sustainability has saved 285 Metric tons of paper, 8,160 M3 of water, 1,243,660 kWh of electricity, 5,340 trees, 190 MT of CO2 emissions and 715 M3 of landfill space in the last five years.
